New Prints

This new body of work is exploring landscapes and skylines, usually the South Downs and Sussex coast, using the medium of solar etching.
The images come from observing and visiting the same places many times.
The prints are all hand-made limited editions printed by the artist.

Solar etching differs from traditional etching in that the plate is made using
sunlight (or UV lamp) and tap water.
The plate is then inked up "intaglio" and printed by hand in exactly the same way as a traditional etching, using an etching press.
In addition sometimes ink is brushed or rolled onto the surface of the plate, or the paper is painted before printing.
This is an exciting, versatile, non-toxic way of working which has been developed from a commercial process.
Examples of solar etching are now hanging in MOMA in New York and it has been widely adopted by artists around the world.

The prints are available securely wrapped in clear cellophane with a backing board - ready to enjoy or to give as a present.
